July 20th  - THE SHOW -

August Event -  2pm Sunday 17th August  - Nosey Sunday

With many thanks to the Clifford’s for the invitation, come and join us for a nosey round a small family farm at Linstead Parva.  Vicarage Farm is in Environmental Stewardship and has been arable organic since 2000.  Long established meadows, rich in wildflowers are grazed by a small flock of sheep.

Directions:  Vicarage Farm (IP19 0LA for multi-map enthusiasts) is on the B1123 midway between Metfield and Halesworth.  Travelling from Halesworth the farm is on the left.  On entering the property take care crossing the narrow bridge and then take the left had fork.  The usual signage will be out.  As always bring a mug for tea/coffee.

November Event
Preparation of Turkeys for Christmas.
Sunday 16th November 10am - lunchtime
Peele’s Turkeys, Rookery Farm, Thuxton Norwich, NR9 4QJ
I’m pleased to be able to offer this event again since we had to cancel last year because of an Avian Flu outbreak….
A visit to Peele’s Turkeys where James Graham will talk about the turkey breeds he farms. Mostly the Norfolk Black but there are many others too.  Following a tour of the farm and a talk on their management  there will be a practical demonstration of Turkey killing and plucking. People will be able to gain hands-on experience and ask as many questions as they like.

Its not often you get something this good for nothing, so please do let me know if you are planning to attend to help anticipate numbers.  It is booking up, but there are still a number places left.

In the Pipe Line

From Fleece to Fabric
I’ve been talking with Alison Daykin, a tutor who has been teaching these crafts for more than 20 years. Alison is able to take people through the whole process from raw material to finished fabrics and items. We’ve been discussing an introductory programme that will take us through from fleece and its preparation through to spinning, dying and weaving.  Alison  is the co-author of a fabulous book called "Creative Spinning".

The cost of the this course will be in the region of £60 - £70 for the 2 days and we’ll need about 10 people to make it worth while.   If you are interested in this please let me know now so that I can judge whether its worth running or not.   Thanks

Still working on the willow event, the person I was talking with has gone AWOL, so I’ll have to start again… .

Thanks to those that have been in touch about hosting a nosey Sunday.  We do need more volunteers though, so do give me a ring / email.   Yet to hear from anyone that wants to host a BBQ too….

The butcher that ran our pork and sausage making day has offered a lamb cutting day – can you let me know if you’re interested. Cost will be in the region of £50 as last time.  No takers thus far!
